Not too long ago, I threw out my old computer because it was running so slow; I didn"t realize there was anything I could do about it.
Since it was the only way I knew how to get faster speeds, I would go out and buy a new PC (strangely, this is the same system that felt screamingly fast when I first got it).

If you had the experience of excitement at the speed of your newly bought PC and after a few months feeling let down by the PC running slower and slower, then you would understand what happened to me when I bought a new PC.
The amount of time it took to boot up and run program was really long, and windows would lock up and the speed to navigate online was slow.
When I encountered a difficulty in my PC, I analyzed it, didn"t resort to buying a new PC but rather took steps to correct it so I could put it back to a "new one."
There are several steps to fix a slow computer. The following are the reccommended nine steps:
1. Removing all Spyware from your PC should be your first priority once you receive your computer system.
2. In order to insure that you have the latest security patches and features, make sure your version of Microsoft is updated. This will provide the utmost security and protection for your windows operating system.
3. Because so many people use Internet Explorer, phishers and hackers tend to attack it; if you use it, be sure to fix the settings to prevent them from getting in--better yet, use Firefox.
4. Remove unnecessary programs from the start menu as this will slowdowns your system by accumulating at the start phase.
5. Be sure that you are running an effective Firewall program as the one Microsoft provides doesn"t offer the best protection.
6. I suggest that you never edit your computer"s registry on your own; it"s very important to make sure you have reliable help in doing this.
7. Performing a defragmentation on your hard-drive will speed up read and write processes by rearranging data into orderly chunks.
8. If the computer comes equipped with an Anti-Virus program, you should run it and update the virus data files to ensure you are fully protected.
9. Be sure to remove all idle programs, they will slow down and consume your pc"s speed.
